Liz Collinson is not only my wonderful mother, but she is also a fantastic ceramic artist. Based in the North West of England, Liz is inspired by the countryside and her surroundings. Her work continues to evolve and change through various experiments and tests done in her Lancashire studio.
Liz Collinson uses a range of clays including Earthenware, Stoneware and Porcelain to produce different styles of pots which are then sold in Art Galleries or Ceramic Shows around the UK. Liz's work is also in collections in countries such as Austria, America, France, Australia and New Zealand.
Liz currently provides ceramic courses which last 4 weeks where students can learn the basics of pottery. (Students go to her studio for 2.5 hours per week over the 4 week period). She provides the students with clays, glazes, tools, equipment and tuition. Liz is there to help guide the students to make the best work possible while teaching them about the fundamentals of pottery.
Many of her students take part in the courses for some "me time". It's a place to escape the real world and get your hands dirty. Then, at the end of the 4 weeks, you come away with some ceramics that you have designed, made and decorated yourself.
