Picture this : fine white sand, palm trees blowing in the breeze and beautiful clear waters. No it's not the Caribbean. Although you wouldn't be blamed for thinking so. No, this little slice of paradise is in Europe.
Le Lavandou is situated between Toulon and St Tropez on the south coast of France. Le Lavandou is a beautiful large beach with crystal clear waters shimmering in the sun light, inviting you in for a swim. There are palm trees around the edge offering shade to those who can't handle the heat and believe me, it gets hot!!
We spent a day here in the middle of May and it was already hot enough for us. And as it was a week day in May, we basically had the beach to ourselves. I can't imagine what it's like in July and August. It would be far too hot for me, and I imagine it gets rammed with tourists, both French and foreign.
I loved the cute little changing cabins as they reminded me of the ones in Brighton. Not that I've ever been, although it is on my list - along with the rest of the world, but I have seen photographs.
We didn't explore much of the town, but there are plenty of restaurants, cafés and shops along the beach as well as a beautiful little harbour. (Anyone who knows me, knows I love boats, so harbours are always appreciated!!) We wanted to go on a boat trip to one of the islands, but 1 of them needed to be booked in advance, the other was a nudist only beach and the 3rd island required hiking boots, or at least shoes more substantial than flip flops. So if you do fancy a day trip, be prepared to either book in advance, be naked, or go hiking!!
I hope you liked my short blog post about Le Lavandou. Be sure to leave comments and questions.
